Read the rest of the article here: http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/technology/2011/09/neutrino-faster-than-light-maybe/ I really hope it's true because it would shake the physics as we know it today in a way it wasn't shaken for almost a century. And our physics theories obviously have a lot of flaws, so a discovery like this could really make scientists stop and rethink everything they know. What do you think?
Probably not, because space is dark and we'd have no way of turning our headlights on But kidding aside, still probably not. Even if it turns out to be true, it's gonna be a long time until we can use it for actually travelling faster than light.
Physics theories obviously have a lot of flaws? Like what, for example? Lol. I just don't see how this could be possible, but we'll see.
Like having quantum mechanics and general relativity while they pretty much contradict each other. Like string theory making presumptions that we're probably never going to be able to test. Like standard model being based on hypothetical particles that we still can't observe. I think it's obvious that either some parts of physics we have today are wrong or that there's something that we keep missing that would connect all the dots and make everything logical. Btw, I am by no means a physics expert, I just find it interesting and read a lot about it.. So yeah, take everything I say with a grain of salt and check it out for yourself.
I also think there are flaws in our physics, but how could there not be? We really know nothing about our universe. Everything we "know," its really all theory
thanks for posting the article it's awesome......... can NASA build like a hyper drive and travel through space like star wars.......................................... forget it i am just fantasizing
I've read that accelerating to 99.9% the speed of light will be impossible for any type of space craft because there simply isn't enough energy to do so. But they did say it is theoretically possible to manipulate spacetime and ride it like a wave at the speed of light. Edit: Here's a pretty cool article about it: http://news.discovery.com/space/is-warp-speed-possible.html
