This is a great place to show off our feeling for any and everything that is going on with our lives. Some tend to forget that just cause one person feels this way, not everyone else may feel that way too.
This is another trend LP fans have been on since ATS, and I'm guessing it stems from Chester's speech at the end of the DVD. I don't understand the hate for Warner. Would they really be that much better off if they left? Wouldn't they lose funding? Less tours? Less arena shows?
LP must go Indie.... Leave Warner after The Mall Soundtrack.. and do what they want for the next record.. F**K WARNER!
I understand why a lot of fans are excited about the idea, but I'm not sure if it would really be so much better for the band to operate without label backing. If they choose not to renew with Warner Bros., it'd be great to see them give it a try (as opposed to immediately signing with another major label) and see how that works out for them. I believe their dedicated fan base, fostered through a fondness for social media and a hard work ethic, and their interest in trying new things would see them through, but, again, we can't be sure just yet that it would be a better situation for them in the long term
This thread. Was a thread like this really necessary? I mean the "let's hate on the record label" horse has been dead. For years. I think the horse's spirit is sick of people still beating on its body.
Don't LP like, have Warner by the balls now? I thought they had all the creative control they wanted, so there wouldn't be much of a reason to leave.
no bc lp r a hard rock band w/rap elements like hi voltage & now their all techno pop so justin beiber & skrillex babies can like i think wb has been changeing lp into mainstream!! dats y they got that dick rubin instead of don gilmore don wuz good b/c he made lp right songs over & over until it was gud and now we have SOMEWHERE I BELONG
I hate using this smiley, but.... Come on, the old "hate on label" bandwagon is just...old. Warner was the only label to give LP a chance at the beginning, some LP fans have to realize that instead of shitting on the label without any good reason but to be the cool "anti-system" guy. Without Warner, you would probably never have heard of LP. That said, there are those who think LP would be way more creative if they were indie. Honeslty, I believe LP is doing what they wants nowaday, so going indie would probably not change a lot. Yes, Living Things sounded less experimental than ATS, but it was more than likely LP decision to make short -reminescent from the past-songs. They have insisted a lot on this during the pre-release interviews. There are also those who doesn't like Warner because they get money from LP activities. Eh. It's their job, isn't it, to make money by promoting artists and all? I think it's not our business to care about the money Warner gets. If LP is happy with their contract, there are no problems there. So what next? I'll just say that if LP wants to leave, that's fine, and if they don't, that's fine. That's their decision. Warner and LP are professionnal enough to discuss their contract modalities, and honestly, they don't need pressure from un-informed fans who doesn't know all the sides of that subject. Edit: it might seems so, but I'm not blaming those who are excited by the perspective of LP trying the indie way. Just, those who are going "fuck warner" for no valide reasons.
