I know I am haha. I have a type of colour vision deficiency and I've known that for years now, but now I finally know what it's called - deuteronomaly. About 8-10% of all men are suffering from color blindness (damn you girls! lol) and by far the most common forms is called red-green colour blindness (deuteronomaly is the most common type of it). Here's a test for you all to quickly check your vision http://www.colblindor.com/2007/02/15/ishihara-plates-color-blindness-test-in-a-leaflet/ And if you can't see most of the numbers, don't worry, it can't have any major effects on your life, and you can do almost any job if you don't see a colour or two. And from my experience, a lot of girls find it sweet when they realize I can't tell the difference between their purple shirt and their blue shirt Now, come one, anybody else? It's one in ten so I can't be alone here --------------------- quick links: http://www.colblindor.com/color-blindness-most-frequently-asked-questions/ http://www.colblindor.com/2007/04/17/deuteranopia-red-green-color-blindness/ http://www.colblindor.com/2009/01/06/50-facts-about-color-blindness/
I know for a fact I'm not, thanks to tests at the optometrist lol, but both my brother and grandfather are red-green colour blind.
My sister is, despite the fact that it is very rare for girls to be colour blind. My sister, like Dan's brother and grandfather is red-green colour blind as well.
I'm not but one of my friends is. Once he wanted to buy a bag and it was bright pink but he thought it was white. When we told him it was pink he was like "shit, I almost bought that yesterday!" We laughed. More seriously, I'm not sure what type of colour blind he is but I remember being drunk once and him showing me a website where it shows what non-colour blind people see and what he saw. It was weird.
Here's one example, to me these two pictures are completely the same: And here a normal person will see every number in a box of color which is different to the one next to it. I can't see these boxes, I just see numbers from 0 to 5 as one block with gradient from lime green to yellow, but no boxes. Same happens from 10 to 15 just a gradient. And a funny thing I remembered seeing some time ago, the number one song on the billboard list on the day that I was born was Cyndi Lauper - True Colors
When my cousin was trying out for the army, he told me that a lot of guys who were giving the tests got shocked when they were told that they were color blind. I guess the sooner you know the better.
I didn't think I was color blind, but I took those tests anyway and I passed. yay. I don't know of anyone that is color blind, but I remember my Grandpa telling me how a guy he worked with couldn't see red. He was an iron worker so whenever he needed to use the red kind of something he'd always need someone else to show him which one it was. I think the guy told him he could see green and yellow but my Grandpa still didn't really want to drive with him all that much.
Haha tell me about it. In the past couple of days I've read so many things that happened to other colorblind people and that also happened to me that I'm beginning to think I'm in the twilight zone lol. That's a very rare thing when a person cannot see one colour at all. And concerning the traffic lights, there's one up, one in the middle and one down, so colour blind people don't have problems with driving. Unless they're dumb of course haha
There are some shades of blue and purple I can't distinguish from one another, apparently. Although, I'd be willing to be it's one of my friends who can't distinguish the two.
