Recently, my 12 yr old cousin brother is starting to gain interest in LP music, and I've been trying to lure him in ever since. He came to me one day asking me for LP songs but the problem is, I don't know which songs should I recommend him, so I might as well ask here and see what you guys suggest. PS: You know, kids won't sit down and listen to an entire CD, so throwing him my CD would likely end up untouched. For all I know, he doesn't like heavy songs (well, I think he likes Evanescence's Bring Me To Life though) and doesn't do much rap either, although he likes Eminem's LTWYL. Side note: He likes High School Musicals songs if that gives any help. I know that he likes New Divide. He really likes Numb (even set it for ringtone) so I tried From the Inside but it's too heavy for him. The boy also showed some interests in Not Alone, In the End and Breaking the Habit. I think the Numb-kind of songs with a catchy chorus could do the job, thxz!
Um ... "In The End", "Somewhere I Belong", "My December" ... "Leave Out All The Rest", "Shadow Of The Day", "Valentine's Day", "In Between" and "In Pieces" from "Minutes To Midnight". Oh, and "No Roads Left" too, 'cause, whatever. ;P
Any LP soft-side would definitely fit him But sometime, try to lure him with heavy song til he reached Given Up.
You're throwing out half the album I think In Between would be too boring for him, as it doesn't seem to have a distinctive chorus, thxz though =] Thxz, I believe that would take months, he's not even gone up to One Step Closer
hm....i don't see the point ofyour question. It seems that your cousin has heard almost a handfull songs....he likes, and a handfull songs that he doesn't like.... so what's the problem...borow him your cds....and let him decide...I think it makes no sense "to make someone to a LP-Fan by force".
Well not a handful, just about 4. And surely I will never force anyone to like anything, just as much as I hate to be forced by others. I happened to have miss-added the fact that it is he who asked me for LP songs first, and I was only trying to fulfill his needs. It's just that my cousin brought me up to the question that what kind of music does 12 yr olds have their likings on these days, and I'd like to share thoughts with you guys, whether or not he turns into a fan is his own decision.
Well, I think, generally, that half of the album I've brought up would appeal to someone who wouldn't like "From The Inside" or "Given Up". ;P
Hahaaa. Okay so he likes New Divide and Numb? Try What I've Done, Shadow of the Day, Leave Out All the Rest, Pushing Me Away, Papercut, Easier to Run, Pretend To Be, maybe The Catalyst. Oh, and Somewhere I Belong.
Surely will. Papercut seemed like the perfect song to define the old LP and LOATR should suit him. PS: I played The Catalyst once and he completely ignored it. lol
I used to be this kind of kid. Papercut sounded horrible when I first heard it (now maybe my favorite song of all time). I'm just saying you might want to let him hear other songs first. Play him Somewhere I Belong. If he doesn't remotely like it, it's pointless (at least for him liking HT and Meteora) to even try anymore. If he likes SIB, try Easier to Run. If he likes both of those, I say give him heavier song like LFY or maybe Faint. You have to slowly ease him into the heavier stuff. I think the person has a better chance of liking Meteora because, IMO, the choruses are better for casual listeners. If all goes wrong, play M2M lol. Including Across the Line and No Roads Left and get him pumped for ATS!
Lure the prey in with baits like "Leave Out All The Rest", "V.Day", "My December", "Pushing Me Away", "In Pieces", "In Between" ...then stab it with "Qwerty", "Given Up", "Papercut", "Hit The Floor" etc. Good luck hunting
I don't quite get why he thought From the Inside was too metal. There isn't even screaming until the bridge. This whole mission may be a dud if he thinks FTI is too metal lol. But good hunting, as said by Agent O.
Judging by his tastes, In The End and Breaking The Habit would be good places to start. Though honestly it seems like he'd have better luck finding music he likes by looking at the top selling iTunes songs or the Billboard top 40.
You could get him listening to some Reanimation remixes first and then introduce him to the original version.
Haven't thought of Across the Line, should be a good bait zak4994: ya, Reanimation seems fine, I really like P5hing Me Awy, might do the trick Agent O: LOATR seems like the best bait, it'll take a long long time before I can lure him with Qwerty bLePn: I think he meant the guitars were too noisy and not Chester's screams Xero21: well maybe, but he's not that into pop at the moment Hawk: PSP will be his best friend at home thxz guys
How about Points of Authority? That's the song my little brother heard and started liking LP's music. Also, In the end, Breaking the Habit, What I've done
