Try to forgive me that the metaphor in the verses is different from the one used in the chorus. The message is still the same.

    VERSE 1
This cement barrier didn't hinder us.
After the brainless sex, what did we discuss?
Nothing! We just tried to close our eyes,
blind out consciences to our "love" 's slow demise.
But I see now that it was never spawned.
The shallowness of it all had never dawned (on us).
Now I'll just watch the swan sail away.
I couldn't tame it, I bawl, as I drown myself in the lake.

    CHORUS
I lay down beneath a palm, just watching the sky above.
From here, all I can see, says there's no hope in love.
Man has no capacity. As we watch the rainclouds swirl,
observe, but stay calm, as you walk through this world.

    VERSE 2
The inherent human desire for sex
    renders useless the cerebral cortex.
But don't let the guilt manifest.
When you realize your sickness you need to rest.
So as I take my head out of the bay,
I shake off the myrtle liquid, stand up, and say,
"Love between humans is nothing but a lie!"
So why am I still crying as I wave goodbye?

    Chorus

    BRIDGE
Why didn't I see this? It was all that I knew.
Give me a death kiss, but I can't love you.
Because, hear this, we cannot love each other.
The only real love is that which comes from the Father.
WE'RE TOO STUPID AND SINFUL TO LOVE!

    Chorus

    LAST CHORUS
I lay down beneath a palm, just watching the sky above.
From here, all I can see, says there's no hope in love.
Man has no capacity. As I watch the raindrops fall,
I observe, but stay calm, as I live apart from it all. (as I say fuck it all).
