Originally titled Torchwood: New World, Torchwood's fourth season will be returning mid-this year with ten new episodes, mostly featured here in the States. Russell T. Davies, who hailed the 2005 renewal of Doctor Who and created Torchwood, revealed the new season's central plot: Anyone else interested? I am!
Not that into Torchwood as it is but it's an interesting idea. I think Bill Pullman is supposed to be in it as well, that's amazing haha.
Yeah, from what I have seen of the first couple of seasons it kind of went all over the place in terms of how good it was. Sometimes it was pretty good and sometimes it seemed to try too hard to be dark and adult. Children of Earth is good though.
It's Russell T. Davies' writing which is the problem. He absolutely excels at the character interaction and relationship stuff, but the main plot in his episode more often fall flat than not. With DW, he had a lot of fresh ideas in Series 1, but it was generally downhill from there. The characters were still great throughout though. Torchwood suffered from the same cause. But I'm hoping the multipart story will help him write a better story as with CoE.
Yeah, I agree completely there. He's great at writing certain things and comes up with interesting ideas all the time, but he's not so good at integrating it all into a plot. Moffat might not be quite as good in one or two areas, but he's better in others and all-round I think he is the stronger writer. I don't think it'd ever happen, but he could probably write a great Torchwood episode.
