LitE is much closer to "rock" Linkin Park than the pop Park of later years, if anything most non fans are going to prefer LitE by a lot, even non fans preferred the rock incarnation of the band. And by a lot, might I add.
We'll see how LITE does in US-Charts, if it will even be released in the US. btw i'm not saying that I like Burn It Down better.
Only charts (and not me) will tell which single will do better, but opinions aren't facts. I personally agree with Blackee.
LITE and BID are both awesome songs. Who gives a shit which one people you may or may not know like better? But really it's all about Castle of Glass anyways...dem harmoneez.
I think the point is that it's a general rehashing of what the band has done and that it's a very accessible song for a lot of the fan base. Everyone who was into the structures of their earlier albums will appreciate it, similarly those who were into the electronic sounds of ATS will appreciate it as well. It's radio-friendly, and simply put it's sort of a crowd pleaser.
Simply put, because Burn It Down was the first single for an album that was being built up on the massive hype train as a return to the band's roots. Many mainstream fans were turned off from A Thousand Suns, so this was like a comeback for the mainstream at large. That, and Burn It Down is a solid track that can easily be placed in the same vein as What I've Done and New Divide, which are 2 other extremely successful singles.
