As someone who doesn’t like Enter Shikari, the new song is fucking dope.

    Album is out.

They really went all crazy on this one. They're always kinda innovating, but this feels like they went even a step further.

Unrelated, but this band has the craziest, wildest, fun live shows. Looking forward to see them again.

Yep this new album is crazy. Been a fan since 07 (Their first album Take To The Skies) and they never cease to amaze me. This album has so many styles crammed into one it's even hard to tell which genre they are at this point. I always say their genre is "Enter Shikari". They kinda created their own imo. "Abusing music genres worthless boundaries since 2003."

This album is straight up bad man. They sold out. Where did the instruments go? Why make poor sounding electronic/borderline EDM music. I’m not even finished with the album but this is by far their worst album to date. I enjoyed the previous album even though I didn’t think it was groundbreaking or anything like that but this is just bad.

I wish they would go back to the mindsweep sound. Shame I never got to see them live before they sold out. They never come to Seattle.

I like electronic music but it has to be good and this is not it.

Update: After 1 listen, Tina is the only decent song.

    Yep, exactly.

This album has elements from electronic, rock, indie, pop, punk, to jazz & classical. And it still comes together as very Shikari-sounding. Pretty outstanding achievement.

Funnily enough, for a long time, their only record I was a bit meh on was "Common Dreads". It has grown on me though.

I need to give this one some more listens before I give it a proper judgement. Ironically enough, all of the "movement" pieces are the ones I can't really get into currently. I thought those would be the ones I would like most, especially since I've been on a classical and prog kick for the past year. For that reason though, I was excited beyond belief to hear the orchestra come in on Elegy for Extinction.

At the moment my album ranking looks like:
    1. Common Dreads
    2. Take to the Skies
    3. A Flash Flood of Colour
    4. The Spark
    5. Nothing Is True & Everything Is Possible
    6. The Mindsweep
But all of these albums are at least an 8/10 for me so being toward the bottom doesn't say that much about quality.

I'm bringing this thread back as Enter Shikari are about to release a brand new album titled "A Kiss for the Whole World"on April 21st.
Two songs have been released so far. (pls) Set Me on Fire and It Hurts

So far it sounds absolutely brillant. I love the energy (pls) Set Me on Fire brings. Really excited. It's been too long since their last record.

    Loving it so far.

They've been on a "Bangers Maraton" lately. The collabs of last year were also dope.

I absolutely love the direction they're going with this stuff. Really excited for this! I don't think they announced a North America tour yet, but I'd love to catch these guys again in Toronto.

My interest in ES has declined a lot since NIT&EIP.

Their work has felt less original in the past few years to me. I liked loved The Void Stares Back and I was pleasantly surprised the first album single, but overall I haven't been fully onboard with post-The Spark. I just feel like the new sound is less unique to the band and it feels like they're grabbing from other bands in the UK. Which, if they wanna do that it's fine, because they still always put on banging shows no matter what. The studio albums just won't be for me.

Maybe my taste has shifted too much in the past few years to be as into them as I once was. I'll hold my opinion until I see what the full album sounds like.

    New album is out.

I like it. Full of quick firecrackers banger songs, as it was promoted to be.

I doesn't beat "Nothing is True" for me, though. Not that it was an easy task to begin with, I loved and still love that record.

Jailbreak wins it for me, but I agree that "Nothing Is True" was quite better in terms of whole album. Still, very excited to see Shikari live this summer after this release!

Rightfully so! Always a blast to catch them live.

Was lucky enough to see them twice here in April during their residential tour, and holy sh*t, those were amazing, wild, uplifting, adrenaline-packed shows.

Enter Shikari just released their latest album, "Lose Your Self", out of nowhere!!

Haven't listened to it yet, but looking forward as soon as I get out of office :bounce:

Edit: couldn't resit checking from my crappy speakers in a empty office room..Bit more lukewarm to it compared to the last two, BUT definitely a few standouts moments, and given the context of the first listen, I'm sure the next ones are going to be more satisfying ^^'

Edit 2 : "The Flick Of A Switch I." is my jam

I actually much prefer this to Nothing Is True & Everything Is Possible and A Kiss for the Whole World by a wide margin. This might land after The Mindsweep for me in fifth place.

I've had a lot of qualms with the evolution of the band's sound design and stylistic evolution after The Spark. They have sounded very un-unique to my ears for the past several years, and the only things they've done that caught my attention since 2017 were the lead single for NIT&EIP and "The Void Stares Back". Everything sounds like the same thing the other alt-core BMTH and Bad Omens-type bands are doing with modern pop synth sheen. The band has felt too tame and digestible to me.

It's here too - and I think it suffers for it - but I find the whole package much stronger than the past three albums. Even with The Spark which was supposed to be narrowly focused around Rou's struggles we got bullshit like "The Revolt of the Atoms" completely ruining the flow. This album is very applicable to the current political climate and sticks to that.

I love that song bounce but I remember how it very distinclty mismatched with the record ethos

I would say one thing I do feel is that at least the last two records gravitated towards a very "Shikari" -friendly sound, regurgitating a bit of the same ideas in different format, but lacking the edge of their earlier sound. I love their recent output nevertheless, but it's true the novelty impact of something like AFFOC has been gone for a while.

That said - I can't wait to blast this new bad boy on a good sound system!!!
