Need for Speed Heat and NFS Unbound.

I've been having trouble staying connected with this core hobby of mine since my son was born. Even when I have had time, I couldn't get invested in anything new or old. So, revisiting my love for racing games has been a much needed success.

I just finished Clair Obscur Expedition 33

It isn't my favourite game but it 100% should win GOTY just to stick it to all.the big developers and publishers, to prove inflated budgets and 500 person dev teams aren't needed

Also, I didn't realise I had it set to the hardest difficulty until after I beat it lol, that was an amazing feeling

I downloaded The Finals recently. It’s a free to play multiplayer shooter. While it’s been tough to get the rust off, I can’t give the game and the developers, Embark (former generation Battlefield: Bad Company-Dice), enough praise.

Trying to sum this game up feels criminal, but if I had to call it something short… it’s a build-a-hero level-ution gameshow. Level-ution as in destruction that’s functional, not scripted. It’s fantastic. Aesthetically unassuming, but functionally it’s sorcery, making it immersive in a different way and insanely chaotic.

Silksong is genuinely such a cruel game. It just wants you to suffer and make you waste time, it doesn't feel like there's challenges to be overcome, just a game that kicks you when you're down for the sake of it. The first game was challenging but relaxing, this game is just stressful.

I got My Hero One's Justice for the PS4 (I wanted to get something like Mortal Kombat or Street Fighters but those games were way too expensive and my local used games store was selling one's justice for 10 bucks C': )

I picked up No Man's Sky and Helldivers 2 a month ago. No regrets. NMS went on one heck of a redemption arc. It's amazing if you like the idea of seamless land-to-space travel in a multiplayer survival game. Helldivers 2 is just wonderful co-op chaos with a lovely personality that's evenly spread across every crevice of the game. No notes.

...And at the end of this month? ARC Raiders. I never had any interest in a PvPvE Extraction Shooter before. Not at all. But after playing the Server Slam this past weekend? ARC Raiders is special. I could go on and on. Monstrous physics-based AI. Stunning sound design. Dynamic win conditions creating fun, cool, and hilarious moments with a proximity chat that is not at all exempt from an artisan's touch, with the way voices sound from a distance or echo in halls. It's a piece of art, even if it isn't your cup of tea. And it's really pretty. UGH.

This all is why I have been absent. Been getting back in touch with a piece of me that needed love.
