Image credit: @radnomadvisuals on Instagram The band comes off a (hopefully) relaxing week off after their latest performance in Phoenix, Arizona, heading home to Los Angeles to play their first show in the city for the year and third on this album cycle. The first two shows of the From Zero era both took place in Los Angeles. First we have the return show of the band, taking place on September 5th, 2024. This is the show where we were introduced to Alex Feder as the touring guitarist, covering for Brad Delson, Colin Brittain as the band’s new drummer, and Emily Armstrong as the new co-vocalist. We were also introduced to the band’s new single 'The Emptiness Machine' along with the announcement of a new album and tour. On September 11 the band played their first full show with the new lineup, and with the setlist they played, they made sure that no one would leave that show dissapointed. We saw the return of 'My December' for the first time since 2008, and we also got three debuts. First we had the 'When They Come For Me / Remember the Name' mashup performed by Mike and Colin, the One More Light b-side and Papercuts lead single 'Friendly Fire', and finally the debut of a song that should have had its debut 9 years earlier... 'Keys to the Kingdom'! The band put on a damn good show in Phoenix, Arizona. Before starting 'The Emptiness Machine', Mike did his usual "thank you for supporting the new music" speech, but starting it off with mentioning that they're in the home city of Chester Bennington, obviously causing the audience to make a lot of noise. This wouldn't be the only time that Chester was brought up during the set however. While going down to the crowd on the 'When They Come for Me/Remember the Name' medley, Mike spotted someone in graduation cap and gown, and it turns out the person had skipped their graduation to come see the show, bringing their mother along. This mother just so happened to be Chester’s choir teacher in high school! Small world. This show takes place one year and two days after the band’s latest Los Angeles performance. All week the band has been putting on events and pop-ups in Los Angeles, be it sandwiches, ice cream, new merch collections and items, a screenprinting course being taught by Joe Hahn, or even a small acoustic/stripped down performance by Colin, Emily, and Mike. It sure seems like the band wants to show their home city some love, so do we think that they'll bring anything special to the set? Maybe 'Unshatter' live debut? JPEGMAFIA is now rejoining the From Zero World Tour, having previously performed on the tour in Europe earlier this year. While that didn't bring any collaborations in Linkin Parks set, do we think that might change this time? On what song? With livestreaming becoming more accessible than ever, fans at home have been able to watch shows on social media via YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram livestreams from attendees. Unshatter debuted. And for a debut, Emily sounded amazing on it. Lots of background vocals from Joe (and Alex I think) on the chorus too it seems!
