Linkin Park's Colin Brittain appears on the cover of Batteur / Batterie Magazine, a French publication focused on drums and percussion, for its 228th issue. The magazine releases issues each month with articles on new products and performance techniques, as well as profiles of well-known musicians. Batteur and Batterie were previously separate entities, and both leading publications pertaining to drummers in France, before merging in early 2024.

For the cover story, titled "La Nouvelle Ascension" ("The New Ascension") and written by Nathan Le Solliec, Brittain was interviewed back in July, hours before Linkin Park's sellout show at Stade de France in Paris, FR which closed out the European leg of the From Zero World Tour. Photographs taken at that show for the magazine are also featured in the article. Brittain offers his perspective on Linkin Park's comeback, particularly with so much on the line for the band's remaining founding members; he comments that the success of the From Zero album and touring cycle is best-exemplified by stadium shows full of fans who are singing along to the newer songs. He also describes how his process of becoming a member of Linkin Park happened right alongside crafting what would become a new Linkin Park album (whittled down from about 30 songs), and the band figuring out the many other things needed to solidify a path to making their comeback.
Brittain clarifies later on in the interview that he has never met or spoken with former Linkin Park member Rob Bourdon, who he essentially superseded in joining the band, but emphasises that he has he only has "the utmost respect" for Bourdon and his contributions to the band's music and history, describing his drumming as a formative musical influence. He also talks about the months-long process of learning Linkin Park's older songs to perform on tour, and what he picked up from Bourdon's playing in the process.
Also mentioned is Brittain's considerable list of credits as a writer and producer on other artists' releases, and he reveals that he often records drums on these songs without taking specific credit. Indeed, Brittain is still very much in that world and balancing it with his work in Linkin Park, simultaneously displaying his technical abilities and his versatility. This past year alone has seen the release of several songs that he was involved in, such as "Save me now" from Wisp's debut full-length If Not Winter, "BRAINDEAD" by Papa Roach, "Eyes" by The Devil Wears Prada, and "Rocket Scientist" by Perrie from her debut self-titled album.

    Issue 228
of Batteur / Batterie Magazine is available for purchase in both physical and digital forms here. In addition to the insightful interview with Brittain, there are also drum tabs for the From Zero highlight "Two Faced". Other musicians interviewed in this issue include Ilan Rubin from Foo Fighters, Michael Cartellone from Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Wolfgang Van Halen from Mammoth.

Colin is more active in interviews and publications than Rob was for most of his later career in the band, which is cool. We get to see a lot more into the drum world of the band. Nothing against Rob of course, he's a very different personality than Colin, but we were left a little dry in that corner overall.

Though it's also very nice to hear that Joe, Dave, Brad, and Mike seem to have kept in touch with Rob throughout the transition, though privately. That's how I interpreted Colin's comment.

Well, he might've said something completely different and it could've gotten lost in the translation :halfkappa: but I personally got closure out of that comment which I appreciate. Add I agree, it's nice that Colin talks to the press as much as he does

"I trust the band members who have been in contact with him throughout this process" is actually French for "we terminated his writer's share on all Linkin Park songs and his name is banned from being mentioned by anyone in the band or crew" :kappa:
