Crawling has the best example of "tension and release" that LP is known for, and there are so many elements from the song that come together at the end of the track. Numb does that as well, but not as effectively.

Points of Authority has always been solid to me, just shy of excellent. The beatbox guitar line is always satisfying to hear come on. Chester’s performance is very varied, angelic in places and harsh in others and the chorus. Dwelling on the love at first just to flip it as the verse progresses sounds like waking up from something you would have liked to keep believing but cannot and will not any longer.

It’s also the earliest track to really stir my imagination around how deliberate it was to make a choice like incorporating lines about, what I’ve thought for a long time was, a rat race… in with something that’s overall about a toxic relationship.

Or maybe that was just a flex about being ahead of the curve in the sound race at the time. And maybe it was just for unrelated fun. Maybe!,… me only skimming these giant posts rich with insights is cause for dumb lines of thought. Maybe.
