So I helped out with this, though this is my first time hearing the tracks I didn't directly contribute to. (I did the HITC remix on this and did some rhythm guitar for IGYEIH!). Live reaction as follows! (Which does mean spoilers so go and listen BEFORE reading this!) Firstly, the booklet is excellent! Yes, if you download it, you get a nice booklet PDF as well. Just thought I'd mention it. Track 1 - Love the arrangement and minimalist use of the vocals here. That kit is killer. Track 2 - This is so gritty immediately! Love the cameo of the Amen break. Good sequencing here-- it compliments the first track by being a much angrier mirror of it's style. Again, great arrangement. Track 3 - That bass is killer, wow. I feel like this is another case of great sequencing; this feels immediately more melodic than either prior tracks, which is a shift in tone for the album, but it still fits within the same pocket, expanding it rather than feeling like a shift. Love that bridge. This outro is very unexpected, love the combination of the distorting vocals and the more organic piano. Track 4 - That pitch bend is naaasty. This whole thing is super Jungle. Really going hard on the ambient space here, which I love after the introduction of more organic sounding elements in the track prior. This is the kind of track you can vibe out to while on a long drive or doing busywork at home. Thanks for making a version of Cut the Bridge that I actually like. Track 5 - So this is one I knew about ahead of time; I did rhythm (though not lead) guitars here. I think I also provided other advice on the rock edge of it and one or two very minor drum pattern suggestions but it was a while ago so I don't remember the extent of either. I think it turned out super well and fits in the sequencing fairly naturally-- there's little remnants of the prior styles poking through like the cameo of the Amen break etc. The positioning of each track feels like the gradual evolution of a pocket which I really appreciate. Maybe a little commentary on how all these sounds make up LP's signature, too, by breaking 'em down and giving them individual focus. Track 6 - Wow, that intro is so different from anything on the album up 'til now. It fits super well, a little bit of a palette cleanser. There's still that bit of rock introduced by the prior track in the chorus here, through the styling of the verse marries it closer with what came before. This track feels really colorful with the sound choices. Like a track you want to listen to when you get up in the morning and makes you want to punch things. That pitch bend at the end of the bridge is gnarly. Track 7 - This one is mine! I originally wrote it for the "Remix From Zero" contest on this site, but I didn't win. minuteforce wanted to borrow it for this rmx album and I obliged. It was worked on a bit and further polished for the release. I think one of the things about this track I'm most proud of is the outro. HITC is a very difficult song to remix without just making the same song again. I feel like I managed that. Track 8 - Aaaah, aaah.... Oooh! Lovely switch up. Lovely little breath of fresh air and a one-way ticket to groovesville. Track 9 - Going hard on the atmosphere here again, really appreciated after the previous tracks. Just kinda zoning out to this one. Oooh, that's a real pretty switch up. I love the choice to leave the back half of this one completely instrumental. Track 10 - Really instantly love the pocket of the intro. That drop is naaaaaaaasty. Killer chops, killer groove. Is it just me or is it hard to comment when you're too busy jammin' out? Throw this album on loop while doing boring shit, tbh. That outro is awesome. Track 11 - Mmm, really tasteful epiano here, that distortion and freq carve is so smooth. I love how understated this is. That rvb on the voc in this verse space is very tasteful. Again, just kinda zoning out, which is a great thing, because it means the beat is hitting in the right places. Very pretty instrumentation and tasteful sound choices. That bass towards the end is thiccccc. Again just love how understated this is. Excellent outro. Overall: I think you killed it here. And it's actually frankly insane you managed to put together a remix album of this quality before the album cycle was even over. Really pleased with these, a few of 'em will be in my rotation for a while yet.
That was my bad, sorry - formatting issue with the links, which I've fixed. Thank-you for pointing it out.
