So...here's another set of lyrics from one of my weird folk songs. If you were wondering about the title, I chose it because a friend recently told me that scientists (or whatever) have picked a name for the young generation. Apparently, they've decided to call us the "DIG (Digital Instant Gratification)" generation. But yeah, this song is my take on my favorite part the world's most recent batch of people. It basically just reminds me of all of the people I love, how I associate with them, and how we view the world. If that didn't make any sense, then too bad. Just read the lyrics. -------- The DIG Generation Well I gave up on all those dreams I thought they meant the world to me And I won't ask for nothing But we're so damn incomplete So we're changing our desire Putting both hands on the wheel And we're driving to the sunset In our endless race to feel Like we are one with all the world Or we are too good for this town Every mile is a reason Why we just can't stay around But we are too scared to admit The things we never should have missed And we're aware the world has warned us "Don't you dare end up like this" chorus: But we're all set We're just doing all our best Wishing somebody would notice It's not hard to fix this mess So here's to us The ones who never did adjust And I guess some will never learn But we're as real as anyone So keep your head up, look alive We'll tell the world we're doing fine But we're all so in denial That we haven't read the signs Still, there are reasons for the truth And why they won't give that to you There are reasons why we never Guessed what everybody knew (chorus again) So clean the glass and close the door And put the petal to the floor And tell us that you've realized What you never saw before You've seen there's just so much to do That we've been too tied down to move And that their common sense has done What giving up has done for you chorus 2: But you're all set You're just doing your new best Whishing somebody would notice It's not hard to fix this mess So here's to us The ones who never did adjust And I guess some will never learn We're just as real as anyone So here's to this new set of wheels And here's to knowing how it feels To be the one who's not a mess So here's to our new found success And here's to us
