For those who don't know what MMA stands for, it's Mixed Martial Arts. I want don't to limited to various topics of the wonderful world of MMA so, I'll just start with...I've been practicing Kenpo for about two and a half years not including one year that I had to stop for a while. I want to get into some Jujitsu or Hapkido. I'm a huge MMA fan, even bigger UFC fan. Any others? Give me a little background.

I only follow UFC when the shows are headlined by something huge (Lesnar/Couture, Mir/Big Nog) or the undercard is stacked, like the Ultimate 2008 was.

Fortunately, I have HDNet, so I'm privileged enough to get to watch live DREAM and Sengoku cards from Japan, or Strikeforce or Adrenaline MMA. I've mostly been getting into K-1, though, thanks to the badass known as Badr Hari.

I've been into UFC since UFC 79. Imo, it's a great sport to watch, and you've got to admire what the contenders have to go through in their training. For that alone, I was already impressed with the sport. The downside to UFC however from observation, is that fighters are usually chosen through popularity, and the lesser-known fighters are usually thrown by the wayside. Prime example: Lesnar already holding the half of the UFC Heavyweight Championship title? Bullshit. It's his fourth fight. I'm in favour of the notion that he'll lose the belt to Mir in their rematch.

In any case, who caught the event last night? *cheers Shogun!!!! Unfortunate loss for Franklin though.

Lesnar comes into the UFC with an established fanbase, though. Dana would have been a fool NOT to capitalize on that. He was a huge name in pro wrestling, has an excellent track record in amateur wrestling, and made headlines for going from WWE to the attempting the NFL (and failing). MMA and the UFC might be more about talent than another sport out there, but it's still a business and Lesnar headlining a pay per view against one of the greatest fighters in history? Buyrates were sure to go through the roof, and did. It out drew Jackson/Griffin and Sherk/Penn, and every other event last year except the Ultimate 2008, which was a stacked card, top to bottom. Everyone from Bas Rutten to Josh Barnett says Lesnar is a fast learner and deserves everything he's gotten, so if they say he's okay, I trust their opinion.

I've been a casual fan for years, but I really got into MMA around the time of
the Hughes vs. Penn II fight. I watch the UFC the most simply because it's more readily available in the U.S.; however, DREAM, Affliction, WVR (Sengoku), and Strikeforce are all on my radar and I usually end up watching their cards online. Pride FC was great but was on the outs when I really started tuning in, so I have to live through their former glory by watching old fights and events online.

Anyway, UFC 94 is on the 31st -- anyone else excited?

My bet's on GSP. The guy constantly improves after every bout. Win or lose though, it should be an awesome fight, GSP's matches are almost always suprising, and exciting.

Hecks yeah, man. I'm aiming towards GSP. Not because he is my favorite fighter, but because he is really skilled. He trains like a mad man and I think he is going to be 100% ready for this match with Penn. I think GSP is the more well rounded fighter of the two and he does constantly improve. But I defianly won't under estimate Penn and I'm sure GSP won't either after that fight against Matt Serra lol.
Kimbo Slice has been an over rated fighter for a long time, up until he recent defeat. Was it like a 13 sec knockout? lol Sheesh

They're both fantastic fighters, however I always root for BJ. I'm really hoping he brings it to GSP and puts on a great fight.

If you have it, HDNet is showing the full Affliction: Banned card right now in preparation for tomorrow's event (Day of Reckoning, headlined by Fedor/Arlovski) if anyone is interested.

I'm hoping for an exciting fight, but I'm confident that Fedor will dispatch of Arlovski in the first round in an anti-climactic fashion.

The knockouts in the Fedor/Arlovski and Belfort/Lindland fights were pretty nasty. I thought Lindland was dead for a moment, haha.
