About two weeks ago, the L and O keys would just stop working randomly. Then the problem moved to the H and Y keys, and this morning my UP arrow and M key quit working. I haven't spilled anything on the keyboard, I used a can of air to remove any debris from under the keys. Any suggestions? I really don't want to spend the 70 dollars at Staples to get it diagnosed before trying everything at home that I possibly can.
You can buy cans of compressed air to clean out debris from underneath keys on a keyboard. Its like a hairspray can but with just air in it.
If you held the thing too close to something, or there was debris big enough under there, it might have gotten stuck, jostled, restuck, and jostled again. That would explain your problem. I'd see if you could get the key caps off, without breaking them (one at a time), and then check for loose debris. Another idea is to take off one key, and turn the laptop so that the debris comes out of the opening. Make sure the laptop's off though, so the hard drive needle doesn't screw up the drive or anything.
Did that too, didn't help at all. I think its weird as the problem is moving around my keyboard, The letters it started with L and O, are working fine now. I will probably just end up shelling out the money to get it fixed.
