Original Image Credit: @radnomadvisuals on Instagram Alright Switzerland, let’s try this again! You get to finish out the entire From Zero touring cycle! 100 shows and it’s done! Yeah here we go for the hundredth time... While this will be the 10th performance for the band in Switzerland, it will also be their 5th in Zürich. If you want a complete rundown of the bands earlier performances in the country I would recommend the tour post that @minuteforce wrote last year before the Bern show got cancelled. Linkin Park was set to perform in Bern on June 20th, 2025 but the show was unfortunately cancelled on the day and on July 8th it was replaced with a show in Zürich on June 30th, 2026, the last show of the tour! Most recently the band was in Belgium and performed at Werchter Parklife, a show that was originally meant to be the last show of the tour. It was another festival where they were allowed a two hour set, meaning they didn’t have to cut down their normal set for time like their shows at Rock am Ring or Download. At the show the ‘Control Colin’ game returned, a game where the audience gets to pick a style that Colin plays the intro drums on 'Numb/Encore' on, usually the audience picks by choosing a number but at this show a genre was directly choosen instead. This game was last played in Sydney on March 15, 2026 and had been missing before that since November 8th, 2025 in São Paulo, Brazil. So here we are! On September 11th, 2024 the From Zero World Tour kicked off at the Kia Center in Los Angeles, giving us the first full show with the new Linkin Park lineup and quite some surprises in the setlist. The whole setlist was now themed, Mike was now taking the lead on 'Points of Authority' and 'Leave Out All the Rest'. We got new versions of the Joe and Mike solo sections, both featuring Colin now providing additional instrumentation. We got completely new live debuts of 'Friendly Fire' and 'Keys to the Kingdom', and there was a new version of 'My December'. This was just the surprises that the first show brought, since then we’ve gotten way more… but maybe that’s an entire separate wrap up post in itself. What do we think the band will do to wrap up the tour at this show? They’ve been screwing around with a cover of ‘Everybody Wants to Rule the World’ by Tears of Fears, maybe a full cover? There has been talks amongst fans that the band will perform all the songs off of From Zero, that could be cool. Maybe perform a Dead Sara song? More ‘Control Colin’ fun maybe? Mike doing another mega mashup on his solo section, like what he did on March 15th in Sydney? A return of ‘Keys to the Kingdom’, ‘Friendly Fire’, ‘CASTLE OF GLASS’, ‘My December’, and ‘Leave Out All the Rest’? All of these surprises? It’s the last show, just throw everything at the wall! Earlier today the band premiered their Unshatter movie at a LPU screening in Zürich, hopefully just the first of many surprises around this show. After this... who knows? We're waiting for pro-shots of 'Over Each Other', 'IGYEIH', 'Unshatter', and 'Let You Fade'. There's also the Unshatter movie that's waiting for a release, and we will also get (presumably) LPTV episodes documenting the European tour we're now wrapping up. After that... we'll just have to wait and see. With live streaming becoming more accessible than ever, fans at home have been able to watch shows on social media via YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram livestreams from attendees. I don't know how many LP fans really appreciated Clipse rapping over With You like that, Pusha T might be my favorite rapper. The band has really tried to reach back and show love to every era during From Zero, this almost felt like one last Collision Course style surprise where all of a sudden a couple of rap legends are doing one of their most classic songs over a Hybrid Theory track. Bittersweet for this cycle to come to an end. It's something I wasn't sure would ever happen, I never allowed myself to have the expectation. On top of that, there was never a guarantee that this version of the band would be one I would want to listen to. I say this as someone whose favorite album was/is? A Thousand Suns, it's been great for the band to come back and re-embrace nu-metal around the time that the world was. I've been leaning more into metal and heavier music the last few years myself (a lot of very pissed off people these days? can't imagine why), the summer before the band returned I had The Hunting Party on repeat along with the self-titled System of a Down debut. To be able to add *new* and *great* Linkin Park songs like IGYEIH, Casualty, and Two Faced into that rotation has been such a gift. It's been almost two years, so at this point I feel comfortable saying it: From Zero is one of Linkin Park's strongest albums. Each of these tracks feels very well-crafted, like it's the best version of the song it could be (even though LPTV has shown us some fun alternative demos). I feel like From Zero is an album in the vein of Minutes to Midnight and Living Things, albums where the band wasn't going deep in a singular, ambitious direction like ATS or THP, but where the band gets back to basics and tries to put out the best collection of songs they can write. And of those 3 albums, I think From Zero is easily the best.
In addition to Collision Course and Reanimation, it reminded me a lot of when Xzibit joined LP on-stage during "Nobody's Listening" in 2003. That kind of thing hasn't really happened since Meteora so this feels quite nostalgic And, of course, I also thought of how Shinoda rapped over the "Grindin'" instrumental in 2002
That "With You" with Clipse is Epic. EDIT → Rainy "Waiting for the end” is even more EPIC. EDIT OF THE EDIT → I'll miss Alex, come on, there's room for him ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯
Finally getting around to watching more of these videos and hearing Sarah sing (and Josh play) on an LP song is another worlds-collide moment WID is the not the best pick, IMO, but maybe it's a song they really like
