Except a more apt comparison would be the first 30 seconds of "Call Me Maybe". You can't judge a full song against 30-sec intro snippets.
I dunno about you guys, but I have a very, VERY good feeling of it being legit. Play the I'll Be Gone snippet after Lies Greed Misery, it fits.
There's a couple seconds of vocals at the end of the "I'll Be Gone" snippet.
