Yeah, you got fucked. USB and 1394 = not compatible. Get a 1394 card >_< On a side note, USB is evil...in some cases (read: cable modems)
Sounds like a 1394-to-USB hub, right? If so, it might just be that the driver you're installing is 1394-only, and won't work with a USB connection.
