One of my oldest songs that I've written, and one of the songs that I've actually performed live (a rough version of it, and it was performed in my Catholic center at UNLV for their Open Mic Night). This is a completely different piece compared to the rough drafts of the song I have in my old junior-year notebook and in the Songwriting folder on my laptop, but it still carries the same message. It's probably one of the most personal songs I've written so far, and I named it "1:03" just because I wrote this song at 1:03 in the morning on March 4th, 2011. Enjoy! __________________________________________________________________________ VERSE I It all feels brand new To go through what went through And holding on to dear life Let it all fade to black And transition into the next Chapter of the storyline But it can’t just end, it’s broken inside Why can’t it be easier to hide? It's 1:03 in the morning And even then we’re lost, what will it cost To take back everything that’s been crossed CHORUS Cold in the dark Trying to find a light That leads to what’s out of sight Held onto the spark Why can’t I let it go Why can’t I VERSE II The jarring never ends And it seems to always bend It never goes away Wishing it was all over But the night just grows colder There’s nothing that is left to say But it’s there to stay, with no sense to guide The harmony and the peace, denied And at 1:03 in the morning Still awake, nothing left to fake Giving it all up because everything is what I cannot take CHORUS Cold in the dark Trying to find a light That leads to what’s out of sight Held onto the spark Why can’t I let it go Why can’t I BRIDGE Let it go down, let it go out Let it go down, let it go out CHORUS Cold in the dark Trying to find a light That leads to what’s out of sight Held onto the spark Why can’t I let it go Why can’t I VERSE III (outro) Let it go down, let it go out Why can’t I let it go Why can't I let it go Let it go down, let it go out (x2) Why can’t I let it go Why can’t I
