Following interviews with Linkin Park's front-of-house engineer Jim Ebdon and Alex Feder's guitar tech Ben Young for his This Is DeLaCruz channel, YouTuber and former live engineer Nick DeLaCruz has now released a new interview with Phoenix's bass tech, Tracy Robar.

In the interview, Robar speaks about how he began working as a stagehand in his late 20s, following a stint as a musician in a band. He soon proved himself a versatile support for heavyweight acts like Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nine Inch Nails - in fact, for both of the latter two, he was on hand for the iconic (perhaps infamous) Woodstock '99 festival performances, something he obviously considers a career highlight. Robar eventually took on a more specific role for Red Hot Chili Peppers as Flea's bass tech, and remained in that one job for decades, until a few years ago. He later came onto Linkin Park's crew during August of 2024.

Robar also goes over some of the instruments and gear he is tasked with looking after - Phoenix has seven bass guitars in the arsenal for the current shows, each with a duplicate for backup. Not surprisingly, most of them are either StingRay or custom Fender P-bass models.
