Bradenton, Florida -- An angry father who punched a teacher's assistant in the face says he was protecting his 15-year-old daughter who had accused the man of inappropriately touching her. Dave Swafford is charged with felony battery on a Manatee County school employee. Police say he hit the 35-year-old aide in front of a class full of students at Lakewood Ranch High School near Bradenton on Tuesday. He was also named "Father of the Year" by a local radio station for his actions. The assistant, who has not been charged, is on paid leave. School officials say his primary job is "time-out" teacher, overseeing in-school suspension. His name is being withheld by the AP because he has not been charged. Swafford says he came to the school to meet with officials about allegations made by his daughter and other female students about the assistant's inappropriate touching and conduct. When he saw that the man was not in the meeting, he asked his daughter to take him to the classroom. School district officials say they have placed the teacher's assistant on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation. Manatee County School Officials say the girl made the whole story up, and her girlfriends helped her. They say she was in detention because she poured coke from a second story window on another student. The person who saw her do it was the teacher's aide that was punched. That's why she was sent to detention. She made up the story to get back at him. She asked her girl friends to back her story. In the process of the investigation, one of the girls cracked, and admitted it was a fabrication. The girls face possible expulsion from school. source: http://www.tampabays10.com/news/news.aspx?storyid=24397 ---- I actually kind of thought this was funny when I heard this story, because this actually happened at my school and it's all over the news everywhere here. I also knew the guy and I knew that when I heard this he couldn't possibly have molested three girls. Besides, they caught it on video tape and the girl said she molested him at 2:15 when the camera showed him he left at 2:05 and was allready on the other side of the school. It was pretty much idiotic on their part.
Most preppy girls are sluts. I told one off and she accused me of something like this. Of course, an overwhelming amount of people verified I wasnt even close to them when it happened..and I got off with just a detention (cause the principal was a bitch). Even better that same girl tried being my friend later. I was like "uhh no.".
There's something about this story that really makes me think there's something terribly wrong with the world's current state of mind. See how there wasn't even a real investigation yet the media is jumping at the word "rape" or "molestation", waiting for that chance to spark the already raging moral panic. It's pathetic, absolutely pathetic. The papers and the girls themselves need a good slapping for playing on this fear far too much.
The father wasn't guilty or innocent in the first place, this is about a detention teacher lol. The father just punched the teacher, and no he shouldn't have reacted that way it's stupid because now he's going through a law suit. Nikki: Yeah, they're running out of news nowadays though from where I live at least. I think they just jumped at the fact that a girl accused someone of molesting her, and were so excited to use it as a news story. They were desperate for ratings to go higher probably, and it definently did. Of course they didn't think twice about investigating it first, they don't care, as long as they get a story lol. As for the girls I think they were expelled from school. ;P
