Frank Sinatra to me, is the true embodiment of 1940's swing and jazz. Any of those big hits you've grown up hearing (Love and Marriage, Come Fly With Me, Strangers In The Night, New York New York, The Best Is Yet To Come etc) were all originals by this fine and talented musician. Some people have found me weird for getting into his music, but I ask you fellow LPAers: Who else here cant get enough of Ol' Blue Eyes?
<33333 Frankie. My mom is obsessed with the Rat Pack, and I've always heard Sinatra playing, so I've grown very close to Ol' Blue Eyes. Good to see that there are some people who still like him :]
My father has the full Sinatra collection (well, at least, of what that's released - he's got the 20-CD boxset : http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Reprise-Studio-Record-Deluxe/dp/B000002N1Y , and some other records) as well as much of the Rat Pack's stuff. I think Sinatra had not only a great voice but was a showman and had a lot of charisma. Maybe the man has died, but the music still lives on; people will always discover it and get interested.
