The new Static-X album "Start A War" has leaked...I'll give you guys my uptake on it when Im done listening to it.
Yep, I'm waiting on it, too EDIT: So far, I love it. A great mix of all their albums. It has the good production of "Shadow Zone", but also has some of the sampling of their previous albums, some amazing drumming, etc.
Fuck, I wont get it until Saturday when I get home. I'm not using public wifi while on vacation for bittorrent
After listening to it more, I like it, but I'm a bit let down. The middle just isn't there... the middle of the album is so boring (sparring a few songs). The beginning is pretty good, but we've all already heard the first three songs. "Otsego Amigo" is good at the end, but other than that nothing stands out at the end, either. It started off with a bang, but fizzled out, if you ask me. Maybe I'll change my mind after a few more listens, though. But I liked "Shadow Zone" more from what I've heard. I was one of the few that liked "Shadow Zone", though. I loved "Machine" and "WDT" too, though.
After listening to this album, I decided that you need to be a fan of WDT in order to love this CD, cause it goes back to that sound that was present in the first album. It has a couple references to Machine and Shadow Zone but it's more heavier and more techno-ish based and that's what Static-X is known for. To be honest though, I like their old guitarist better than Tripp. I think Tripp was just there to show-off and flip his guitar around in every video you see him in (which by the way, ripped off another person who does that)
I like Kochi better, too. But just an FYI: Tripp was the one that recorded the guitars (with Wayne) on this album, not Kochi. Interestlingly enough, though, most die-hard Static fans like Tripp more for some reason... why I'll never know. The more I listen to the album the more I like it, though. I don't agree that it harkens back to WDT, though. It sounds more like Machine, if you ask me.
