The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce recently announced its Class of 2027, a new selection of professionals in the broader world of entertainment who will honoured and immortalised with stars on its Hollywood Walk of Fame, and among the several names being recognised in the category of music is Linkin Park. The Walk of Fame is, of course, an iconic, world-famous landmark that now spans fifteen blocks of Hollywood Boulevard plus three blocks of Vine Street in the Hollywood district of Los Angeles, with a history stretching back to the late 1950s. Among other things, applicants are expected to have long-running success in their field, as well as a history of charitable contributions, and are required to provide a substantial amount of money for the installation and maintenance of their star if chosen. Names to be included each year are chosen by the Walk of Fame Selection Committee during an annual mid-year meeting, where hundreds of applicant names are whittled down to a select few before being officially-announced a month or two afterwards. In a brief livestream, the Chamber of Commerce's President & CEO Ron Frierson had the help of actress (and Disney Legend) Ming-Na Wen and percussion legend Sheila E. to unveil the Class of 2027 to the world, introducing the recipients across the Walk's six entertainment categories one by one. Sheila E. revealed the recipients in the Recording category during the stream's second half, and lauded Linkin Park's "powerful global impact, raw emotion and genre-bending sound". Among the other names in music chosen alongside the band are icons like Grandmaster Flash, Lil Wayne, The Ramones, Sia and The Smashing Pumpkins - quite the list to be included in. Each one has to be scheduled by the recipients themselves within two years after being selected, so it falls to Linkin Park to announce when their star will be taking its place on the Walk of Fame.
