Metallica Frontman Wishes 'St. Anger' Songs Were Shorter Source this news is old but better late than never. But sometimes I do wonder whether reducing song length would matter much since the quality of St.Anger's music is pure crap.I mean Master of Puppets runs for 8:33 but yet it is pleasing to listen to it-so much so that i once listened to it about 16 times in one day.But Invisible Kid of almost the same length(8:30) makes you feel bored midway through the song. They need a new producer.
the producer doesn't write the music. He doesn't say "lets make that song 5 minutes longer" its the bands decision and they made the songs too long. I like St Anger. The raw feel to it IMO is great but yes, Some Kind of Monster and Invisible Kid are way too long.
The producer does have control over what they do.But for your information Bob Rock did write the music for St.Anger because Metallica at that time were without a bassist and Rock managed the bass line duties. Also if you own the original CD,it clearly states the Rock along with the other 3 members (Hetfield/Ulrich/Hammet) wrote the songs for St.Anger
obviously not a fan? There be nothing better than the timeless classics on Ride The Lightning and Master of Puppets. Just genius
