I don't agree with them. This quote implies to me they'll only be a "Christian" act or a "mainstream" act depending on their success being labeled as either: "We wanted total mainstream credibility, and then have it sold back into the Christian market if it were successful in the mainstream."
I do believe that you're taking that quote the wrong way, Ant. I think what he was trying to say was that they were going to promote themselves in the mainstream first, IE via MTV, MuchMusic, Fuse, doing tours, then have their material distributed in the CCM.
I still don't get it, though... it seems like they just want mainstream credibility first, then they feel they can go back to being a "Christian" band and gain even more credibility for doing so from that group of people. At least, that's how I took it -- but I'm sure I just read it wrong.
Being labeled as a Christian band is the kiss of death. I actually enjoyed Creed but since they were 'Christian' people bagged on them every chance they got. So I can see why Mute is more than pissed.
I don't think being labeled Christian is the "kiss of death" as many bands enjoy amazing success as "Christian" bands. Creed was bashed because Scott Stapp's a tool and sounded just like Eddy Vedder.
Hahaha you used to praise them out the ass though Will. Oh well..that was in the past so lol. (And for the record..Vedder is way better. *darts*)
Just because I hate Scott Stapp doesn't mean I don't like Creed. Back to the topic at hand, I like Mute Math so I'm glad they're trying to fix the situation they've been put into.
