http://www.nearly.net/ This is a project from ex-NIN member Jerome Dillon. Most of you have already heard about it, but the link I posted above has his full album up for listening. Apparently it's about a recurring dream that unfolded over about 6 years that Dillon had about being drowned by a mysterious woman. "When I first started having the dream, I found myself at the edge of a very serene, calm body of water. I'm barefoot, and there's water coming up at my feet. After several months of the dream, I realized that I was not alone and that there was someone there with me about ten feet off the shoreline. I started walking away but soon realized that I wasn't getting any further away from it. So I turned around and walked towards it and that's as far as I got for another few months. Unfolding over six years, the dream ultimately led to Dillon approaching the figure, an extremely emaciated woman with long hair. "She was looking down and her hair was in front of her face. She had come up from the water and was covered in mud. I could see all the bones in her chest as she was breathing heavily and I asked if I could help her but she didn’t answer. It seemed as though she was waiting for me to do something." After several more months, the dream would end with the figure extending her hand, Dillon taking hold of it and her pulling him under the water. "It seemed so real, I distinctly felt the water enter my mouth and lungs. I was definitely drowning." I'm only a few tracks in, but the music is fantastic. The female vocals are haunting and beautiful. I actually picture Claudia (the vocalist), as the woman in the dream. Her vocals completely convey the story perfectly. Your thoughts?
Just getting into the first track.. Awesome use of orchestra. I wish MY dreams came with a frickin' soundtrack.
I listened to the record once all the way through a few months ago, without paying a whole mess of attention, and I wasn't too impressed. But I've heard that it's really good, so I might listen to it again, if I didn't delete it.
