So weird seeing Krillin with spiky hair! Anyways, I think this will be a fun movie. I'm not expecting a crazy mindblowing story so, I think I'm good with this movie. It looks really beautiful as well! One question, though... How come King Kai has his planet back? Wasn't it destroyed during the Cell saga? I don't remember it being brought back during the Buu saga..
A short fight scene. I kind of wish they'd deviate from the *bad guy is way too dominate but then a sudden plot twist makes the hero the dominant one* formula. But on the plus side, this motherfucker is using chopsticks. So there's that.
That new bad guy is badass. I really like his fighting style. However, I don't like how in almost every DBZ movies, the main charachters are turned into brainless guys who can't do anything but fight. Look at Gohan. I would bet he will have 3 sentences in the entire movies, 2 of them being "aaaaaargh!". Same for Vegeta and Piccolo probably. They usually act as parody of their own-selves in the main arcs. It wasn't brought back. It's just a mistake, but it isn't the first DBZ movie with mistakes, ah Vegeta wearing the saiyen armor back isn't really logical either, since the last time he did so was during the Cell arc. It's isn't really a mistake though, but it's just weird seeing him looking like that again.
Expected and formulaic. But oh my god the nostalgia factor mixed in with that fresh looking animation and some chopsticks??? Seriously, that was bad ass. I think all of us fans expect it to be formulaic to a point, that's pretty much how DBZ operates (and some of the appeal), but I cannot wait to see this!
I was hoping that they wouldn't completely nerf Gohan, but I'm feeling like everyone except Goku is going to be fodder, unfortunately.
Looks entertaining! I'm not expecting a crazy non-formulaic movie (although it would be nice) so I should be good. I do hope the non-Goku characters don't get nerfed down, though... That isn't looking good haha
What kind of twist can they possibly throw at us now that allows them to beat a seemingly invincible villain? I think I like the Cell Saga so much because there weren't really any miracles like in the other sagas. There was a strong villain that kept getting stronger just when it seemed like you could defeat him. He wasn't invincible from the start like Frieza or Buu. They trained their asses off and kept pace with the growth of the villain's power level for the most part. Even though they really lucked into Gohan finally unleashing his power, Goku was an even match for Cell and could have defeated him if things went differently. The only thing that slightly diminishes that great story was the whole idea of the hyperbolic time chamber. That in and of itself could be considered a miracle, but I don't think it's as bad as the other miraculous things that happened in the other sagas. There's only so many times an invincible villain can be taken out by a Spirit Bomb or a new level of Super Saiyan. If they just didn't make the villain so extremely powerful at first it would make things easier to swallow. I mean, Frieza, Buu, Brolly, and these new villain's could have killed everyone on the Z team in a couple seconds. Cell seems more relatable and believable. Plus Gohan was the best character in DBZ so it was nice to finally see him be the focus for a while. I miss that saga.
That's exactly why the Android and Cell Sagas were the best. They transitioned almost perfectly and there was a constant goal aside from "Destroy the villain" what helped keep a lot of the episodes flowing was the goal of "Stop Cell from absorbing the Androids" which is way more interesting than just "beat up the bad guy."

That would be Goku's "Super Saiyan God" mode. Not kidding. It needs the power from 6 pure hearted Saiyans. You can see the pictures online.
...I mean, even by DBZ standards, that's pretty dumb. Edit: Here's Goku getting his ass kicked for a minute and a half. It's almost comical how overpowered they made this new villain.
A finger flick tiring out SSJ3 Goku is overdoing it a bit. And I do wish SSJG was not just Goku powering up using other people (like a glorified Spirit Bomb). That's how too many DBZ movies end. Edit: Oh my god that ending! Too much. Just too much. That just means SSJG mode will be crazy overpowered to be able to stand up to that.
^ That's fan-made stuffage there travz. The real god-mode is something more akin to Movie 4's mysterious form. Another Clip:
I wonder how they will kick out the vilain face this time. Or maybe they won't. All heroes dead. End of story. That would be hilarous, but it won't happen Maybe Goku and Vegeta will fusion again, which would be surprising since neither Vegeto or Gogeta have been showed during the film's promotion.
We're literally talking about this above the post you made. Goku's Super Saiyan God form is probably going to be the final fight.
I'm pretty sure they've retconned everything post "Z" and thus we won't be seeing any of GT fusions in this movie.
