Linkin Park members Phoenix and Joe Hahn appear in a new video from Bryan Bros Golf, a YouTube channel which is run by professional golfer Wesley Bryan and his brother George, and which focuses on golf content (natch). In the hour-long video, the Bryan brothers are shown hosting Phoenix and Hahn at the Lincoln Park Golf Course in Milwaukee, possibly just for the bit, which puts the date somewhere in late August when Linkin Park was in Milwaukee on tour. Wesley, likely the most formidable at the game given his pedigree, is pitted up against his brother and the two guests. This marks the first time anyone from Linkin Park has played golf specifically for YouTube content. Phoenix in particular has long been known as the most serious golfer in the band, becoming a regular presence at the annual Alfred Dunhill Links Championship tournament in Scotland - this year's edition in October will be his ninth time appearing. Mr. Hahn isn't so much known for having a golf obsession, but he still demonstrates knowing his way around the game as a more casual player. In-between taking swings, the two Bryans chat with the musicians about life in Linkin Park. Phoenix mentions that he hasn't spent as much time golfing during the band's current touring cycle compared to past ones (something he also said on The Mason Crosby Show). He also names A Thousand Suns as a favourite album of his in Linkin Park's discography, and looks back on working with Sir Paul McCartney on the live "Numb / Encore / Yesterday" mash-up for the 2006 Grammys. Mr. Hahn reveals that he started out playing violin and guitar in his childhood, much like Phoenix, before he began to focus on turntablism, and reminisces about Linkin Park performing at the Philadelphia Live 8 event in 2005 to over a million in-person attendees. He also reveals that he prefers "Cure for the Itch" over "Session", and sums up Linkin Park's array of sounds, techniques and styles as "a toolbox". Phoenix also recently appeared in a new video on the YouTube channel The Golfer's Journal, apparently interviewed back in mid-August when Linkin Park was in Detroit on tour. In conversation with managing editor and host Travis Hill, Phoenix talks about his history with golf and some of his biggest highlights as a player and enthusiast, as well as how the sport helped him to cope in the wake of Chester Bennington's passing and Linkin Park's subsequent hiatus. Didn't think we 'd one day get to a point where 1h+ content of Phoenix (and Joe) golfing is available to us, but here we are.
