With so many artists diving into the realm of current-day politics and state of the world concepts, Porcupine Tree has managed to create an album that doesn't lambast George W. Bush, or take us on a sci-fi trip into a future hell (NOFX and Nine Inch Nails, respectively). "Fear Of A Blank Planet" tells the tale of the present; the here; the now. References to prescription drugs, x-box, absent fathers, sex, malls, education, and boredom are littered throughout this 6 track album. Quite frankly, it's a refreshing breath of air to see a band just write lyrics and play music for about an hour on a subject that we ALL can relate to: the here and now. Do yourself a favor, and download and/or buy this album. Then, go download "In Absentia" and "Deadwing", the two best albums by this band. I'm sure this album will soon rank up there with those two.
