Mmkay, you guys are probably wonder how and why I have a 12" PowerBook G4. Well, it's not mine. I'm just fixing it for someone. And I don't know the solution either, so yeah. I'm pretty sure there's at least one of you here who can answer this. *cough*Todd*cough. :p

When I power it up, it's a black screen for about 10 secounds [I'm guessing it should do this], then a grey screen appears with a folder in the centre flashing a ? and an icon which I'm guessing represents users, I'm not sure.

I haven't a clue what's wrong, or how to fix it. The guy apparently bought it off someone [for a lesser price than Apple's, of course] and then asked my dad to fix it [who handed it to me, as I'm the one who fixes computers].

    Thanks. :)

I just discovered that by pressing alt/option it brings up another screen. Blue with only 2 buttons. On the left, it looks like a refresh icon, the right has a -> button. Neither do anything, except change the cursor into a loading action [hour glass] which goes for 10-15s.

I'm almost 100% positive that flashing icon means there's no operating system installed. Either the hard drive took a dump, or something with OSX just got fubared and it needs a reinstall. Pop in an OSX CD and see if it will boot from that.

    Yeah, that's what I thought.

Now, if only I could find a OSX cd. I'll ask my dad about it.

    Thanks for your help. :)
