Linkin Park is continuing along in California after a hometown performance in Los Angeles this past weekend, traveling to the Bay Area to perform in San Jose. This is the final third of the band's massive second leg in North America this year, with opener JPEGMAFIA returning to the stage after performing as support for the band earlier this year in Europe.

The band will be performing at San Jose's SAP Center, a venue they've played at for each of their visits to the city, under different sponsorship monikers: Compaq Center and HP Pavilion. The band has a bit of history around the San Francisco Bay Area, performing around San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose; but this will only be their fifth visit to San Jose itself, with the last being over 14 years ago during the touring cycle for A Thousand Suns!

Most of the band's past performances in San Jose took place during their early years, during the Hybrid Theory and Meteora cycles. The first of these was on the 2001 edition of Korn's annual Family Values Tour, when Linkin Park visited San Jose's Compaq Center for one of the tour's final stops in mid-November. While San Jose is among the shows of that tour that has never had a verified setlist, those of the 27 Family Values 2001 performances that are known stick to a relatively consistent setlist, featuring nearly all of Hybrid Theory (though at the halfway point "Forgotten" was dropped), plus "Step Up" from the band's 1999 EP.

"Step Up" performed in Buffalo, New York, midway through the Family Values Tour.

Just a little over three weeks later, Linkin Park returned to Compaq Center to participate in a Christmas rock concert put on by San Francisco's alternative rock radio station KITS (Live 105), "Not so Silent Night." Linkin Park was the final act of that night, playing alongside System of a Down, P.O.D., Sum 41, Puddle of Mudd, Alien Ant Farm, and AFI. The band's setlist was very similar to what they played throughout the Family Values Tour, but included the addition of their holidays-themed song recorded in Nashville, "My December," transposed up from D minor to E-flat minor as they have often done for live performances.

Linkin Park would return to San Jose one time in support of Meteora, as part of their winter North American tour in early 2004. By this point, Compaq Center was now known as the HP Pavilion, and the band was pulling incredible numbers as headliners. Like the 2001 Family Values performance, a confirmed setlist is not known for this show, but with both the shows before and after known (Portland, Oregon, and San Diego, California), a fairly likely picture of the band's set still exists. "With You" was serving as setlist opener at this point in the Meteora cycle, and the band was featuring a balance of Meteora and Hybrid Theory favorites, excluding only a few deeper cuts from each. Also included on these setlists were "It's Goin' Down," "My December," and "P5hng Me A*wy," to round out the band's released material at that point.

San Jose did not get any performances from Linkin Park throughout the Minutes to Midnight cycle, but the band did return during their winter North American run early in 2011 for A Thousand Suns. The setlist that night featured the iconic opener combination of "The Requiem" and "The Radiance" before heading into "Faint," and continued along with several live staples until hitting "Iridescent," where Mike Shinoda encountered issues with his keyboard. While a backup was brought out, the rest of the band led a singalong jam over the final chorus of "Iridescent," and brought a surprise performance of "The Messenger" to fill the time. With a new keyboard ready, the band launched into a full performance of "Iridescent," but skipped the "Wisdom, Justice, and Love" intro.

2011 was Linkin Park's final performance in San Jose until tonight, when they return to the same venue for the fifth time, now the SAP Center, for the From Zero World Tour. San Jose comes on the heels of a great performance from the band on their home turf in Los Angeles; they treated fans to a local scavenger hunt and even displays of pieces from the band's history—including the graffiti art wall put together for Meteora, which artist Delta is captured in front of on the album cover. Additionally, after several long months of speculation and anticipation from fans on the debut of "Unshatter," the final From Zero-era track yet to be debuted live, the band finally performed it for their Los Angeles show. With this debut, not only all of the base album, but all of From Zero's deluxe edition has been performed live.

Outside of the long-awaited live debut of "Unshatter," Los Angeles received a setlist B rotation with some small modifications. "Up from the Bottom" was moved to the first act yet again, with "Stained" taking its place in act two, and "Over Each Other" rotated into the slot normally occupied by "A Place for My Head," "From the Inside," and "Let You Fade." The band also slotted in "IGYEIH" instead of "Given Up" for their heavy rotation slot just before the stage flip. One other fun addition was Mike's use of "High Voltage" for his transition verse during his solo mashup set, which we've speculated on several times!

With all the From Zero-era tracks debuted, the band likely isn't looking to debut any new major surprises in the near future. There are still several song from their back catalog still waiting for a full-length live performance, such as "Robot Boy," "I'LL BE GONE," "POWERLESS," or "Mark the Graves" (to name just a few), but with the number of songs the band is currently rehearsing, it seems unlikely these will make an appearance in 2025. Maybe the band could bring out something new for 2026—who knows?
