    So, who has heard the new The Panic Channel album '(ONe)'? For those of you who didn't know, it's formed of three Jane's Addition members and a new vocalist called Steve Isaacs, of the band Skycycle. But don't let that potentially detract you from checking out the band. They're an alternative rock band for the most part, incorporating soraring vocals, and great up-tempo guitars and drums. This is the kind of band you'd find doing a bar show, not in an arena. They play that type of music. It's kind of hard to explain.

    Anyways, the new album is one of my favorites of 2006, and it's catchy as hell, with some very memorable solos mixed in there as well. The vocals are really the selling point for me, though. Isaacs has an amazing voice, in opinion. They've even got a full acapella song with the group harmonizing behind Isaacs. It's called "Lie Next To Me". It's really awesome.

    Suprisingly, a band actually picked the four best songs to describe them to put up on their MySpace page. Check them out;

    They're nothing too special. But they're alright.

    The guitar solos remind me a lot of Muse, though i could only listen to Why Cry because none of the songs were working so i had to watch the video. Why is it when angry people with pots of paint can making beautiful pieces of art just by throwing paint around and being angry? :lol: Anyway, i like this a fair bit. It's a break from my normal stuff. Might have to pick up the album.

    Yeah, I got two copies of the CD the day it was released :)

    The debut CD isn't amazing, but I think it's a good start and has plenty of potential, especially with songs like "Awake," "Listen" and "Night One." At first I wasn't even a fan of "Night One" at all, but after a few times (OK, many times), it grew on me.

    Some couple of songs I just skip because they're so darn bland ("Said You'd Be", for one... I respect whatever political position they choose, but honestly, that's the only reason they put it on the album).

    Two of the best tracks they've done didn't even make the record, though. "Loophole" and "Go On" are both amazing, and they would have fit the record so well.

    This is how I feel. There are a ton of other bands (Sky Eats Airplane, I Killed The Prom Queen, On The Last Day, This Providence, etc.) that I rather listen to, but if it comes up on my iTunes, I won't change it. I like that one song. Cry or something to that effect.

    Would those be bonus tracks, or previously released b-sides?

    My favorite song would probably be "Bloody Mary".

    They're B-Sides that weren't released.

    You can get one ("Go On") off their website... it's hidden in the source code of one of the pages. Steve designed their entire website and maintains it, and he snuck it in there somewhere for fans. I'll try and find it real quick.

    "Loophole" was released to people who bought the Best Buy version of the CD as an online download. I don't know if you can get it online from other methods or not.

    Edit: http://panicasylum.thepanicchannel.com/showthread.php?t=721

    That's the post by Steve saying where to go. I think it still works, but I'm not sure. There's also a website where you can get the demo of "Bloody Mary", which in my opinion is a lot better than the CD version. It's a lot more guitar-driven. I'll try and find that site too...

    Edit 2: http://www.so-to-speak-if-you-will.com/downloads/tpc-bloodymary.mp3

    That's the original "Bloody Mary." Just remove the mp3 part and you can see more demo and live downloads from them. Just scroll down a bit.
