NOTE: I didn't know where to put this so I put it here, sorry if it's in the wrong place.

I'm sure many of you have heard of a block-checker for MSN and AIM. It's a system which says it can locate anyone who has blocked you on MSN, AIM and a few other internet chat services. It also occasionaly starts conversations in your chat log advertising the system. In the past few weeks this system has been found to be riddled with spyware, when I checked for myself there was indeed spyware on my PC and I located the source to be the block checker. The usual affects of the block checker include a very slow net connection and corruption of some files you might download including MP3, Videos etc. and can also lead to a Trogan Virus infection to your PC.

Be advised, if you have the system then get rid of it. Even if you have an early version I'd advise to get rid of it to be on the safe side. If you see and advertisement on MSN, AIM etc. about the block checker, do not download it and tell the person to get rid of it.

Thank you for posting this, I thought it might have something, and the pop-up chat windows were getting too annoying to ignore.

Yeah, I guessed as much. Thanks for posting this, as I wondered why you were advertising this program when I was talking to you last night.

Wow, old issue. This was known months ago, but yeah. That block checker really is not safe at all. Remove it at once.
